歷史
中國香港智障人士體育協會由一群熱心為智障人士服務的專業人員於1978年成立,以主辦康體活動予智障人士為目標,積極發展、推廣及組織智障人士體育活動,務求令其盡展潛能、培養崇高體育精神及積極融入社群。
本會是全港唯一專注於舉辦恆常及系統化運動訓練和比賽予智障人士的體育總會,擁有近百個機構會員和數千名註冊運動員及參與者,每年參與活動的總人數逾五萬人次。
為了使智障人士的體育發展更上一層樓,中國香港智障人士體育協會在1996年正式成為「國際智障人士運動聯會」會員,更在2000年的「悉尼殘疾人奧運會」一鳴驚人,奪得乒乓球女子單打金牌和女子跳遠銀牌;繼而在2004年的「雅典殘疾人奧運會」乒乓球女子單打示範項目取得一面銀牌。而泳隊及田徑隊亦蜚聲國際,成就不遑多讓。經過十二年,智障組別重返殘奧,本會七名運動員出戰2012年9月於倫敦舉行的殘疾人奧運會,於乒乓球及游泳項目與世界運動精英同場較勁,共奪一金一銀二銅的佳績。
而本會運動員於里約熱內盧2016殘疾人奧運會的游泳及乒乓球項目取得一金一銅的佳績。游泳運動員鄧韋樂不但於男子S14級別200米自由泳決賽中奪得殘奧游泳項目香港隊歷史以來的第一面金牌,他更以1分56秒32打破自己個人最佳時間及殘奧紀錄。
Founded in 1978, the mission of Hong Kong, China Sports Association for Persons with Intellectual Disability (HKSAPID) is to develop, promote and organize sports activities for persons with intellectual disability (ID) in order to fully develop their potential in sports, to cultivate positive attitudes in sportsmanship and to facilitate their integration into our community.
HKSAPID is the sole sport association in Hong Kong offering regular and systematic sports training and competitions especially to people with intellectual disability (ID). After years of development, we have over a hundred agency members and thousands of registered athletes and participants. Over 50,000 headcounts are recorded in the year round events.
HKSAPID became the official member of Virtus:World Intellectual Impairment Sport (Virtus, previously known as INAS) in 1996. In Sydney 2000 Paralympic Games, our athletes won the gold and silver medal in table tennis women’s singles and women’s long jump respectively; a silver medal was also attained in table tennis demonstration in Athens 2004 Paralympic Games. The swimming and athletics team also achieved prominent results in competitions around the world. After 12 years, ID athletes are finally re-included in the Paralympics and 7 local ID athletes gained the qualification slots to the London 2012 Paralympics. They competed with worldwide elites in table tennis and swimming and got 1 gold, 1 silver and 2 bronze medals.
Our athletes won 1 gold and 1 bronze medals in the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games. Swimmer TANG Wai Lok broke his personal best and the Paralympic Records with 01:56:32 in Class S14 Men's 200m Freestyle and won the first-ever gold medal in swimming for Hong Kong.
