WONG Ka Man snatched victory from teammate YEUNG Chi Ka

黎惠玲於悉尼殘奧乒乓奪金後,孖寶家汶及賜嘉亦不負眾望,過關斬將雙雙殺入決賽,並包攬了金銀牌。

家汶賜嘉在小組初賽表現凌厲,並以全勝姿態出線闖入四強,繼而分別以3比2力壓波蘭的姬絲娜及以3比1淘汰俄羅斯的高莎卓娃,携手勇闖決賽。正所謂「落場無父子」,兩人為踏上殘奧最高台階而鬥得激烈,擅於正手搶攻的賜嘉第一局先勝,家汶其後追回一局,兩人一直爭持至決勝局,但經驗豐富的家汶臨危不亂,在關鍵球上處理出色,最終以6比11、11比7、8比11、11比9及12比10成功逆轉奪冠,為港摘下第一金。

賽後家汶興奮地表示﹕「我很開心首次奪得殘奧會金牌,回港後我想與爸爸一起慶祝,亦會向朋友報喜。」她亦盛讚隊友賜嘉實力:「很熟悉大家球路,我最怕她的正手攻擊,她的反手進攻亦相當厲害。」

至於之前希望能「坐埋一邊」觀戰的崔教練讚賞兩人表現:「她們發揮了應有水平,相比下家汶的經驗的確比較豐富,兩人平時對壘亦有輸贏,這個賽果我感到滿意。」



After LAI Wai Ling snatched ping-pong gold medal in Sydney Paralympic, Ka Man and Chi Ka lived up to expectation, through all the trials and entered to finals, finally swept the gold and silver medal.

Ka Man and Chi Ka both performed greatly at the preliminary rounds, with all straight wins, they advanced into the quarter finals. With the final score of 3-2, defeating opponent from Poland and with the final score of 3-1, defeating Russia’s opponent advancing into the finals. With the title of champion just around the corner, even as teammates, they both wanted to win. With a better skilled forehand, Chi Ka won the first round, then Ka Man took the second. They both played until the final round, with Ka Man’s countless competition experience, she had a better execution on tight spots. With the final scores of 6-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-9 and 12-10, Ka Man turned the tide and obtained the first gold medal for Hong Kong.

After the competition, Ka Man said, “I am thrilled that I got a gold medal for the first time in the Paralympic Games. Once back to Hong Kong, I would like to celebrate with my dad and tell all my friends the good news.” She also complimented on her teammate, Chi Ka’s play, “We are both very familiar with each other’s play style, I am most afraid of her forehand smashes, and her backhand strikes are powerful as well.”

Hoping to watch the match as other spectators at first, Coach CUI complimented on both of their performances. “They both gave it their all and showed their full potential. When comparing between the two, Ka Man has more overall experience. They always beat down each other when they sparred with each other during regular practices. I am very pleased to see both of their results in this competition.”
