A Promising talent in Swimming – TANG Wai Lok

Being the team’s youngest athlete in the Paralympic Games, it was Wai Lok’s first time in April to compete in a major international competition for elites. At the British International Disability Swimming Championships, he surprised everyone with phenomenal results of two gold, two silver and one bronze medals. His result was the best of the team and this outstanding result brought him the dream to be able to compete at the London Paralympic Games.

“I never thought that I will be able to participate at the Paralympics this early. I am very excited and nervous, I hope that I will be able to get my Personal Bests!”, Wai Lok said. Mrs. TANG honestly couldn’t believe it either, she said “He joined the swimming team back in 2009, last year was his first time participating at the Special Olympics World Games, and this year he can already be able to go to the Paralympics.” Mrs. TANG said these chains of events were happening too fast and she did not know what should be done next. “I am getting nervous too!”, she said.

When this youngster with a little “baby fat” was asked whether he will be able to get a medal at this year’s Paralympics, he answered, “ I am already satisfied if I can get into the finals, but I will set my goal to the next Paralympic Games in 2016, hope I can bring pride and honour for Hong Kong.”
