Looking for Breakthrough in 100M Backstroke – CHOW Yuen Ying

“I have mixed feelings towards Yuen Ying. Although she needs more time to understand instructions and make appropriate adjustments, she was born a swimmer frame, with the right mindset and quick reaction.” Coach Ngai said, “Since her body is pretty soft, she lacks in explosiveness. She needs to be put through specialize training to build up her muscles and coordination for short distance events. Also whenever she is stressed, her form and techniques will fall apart, and sometimes I get mad at her because of that!”

To be able to participate in the Paralympics, Yuen Ying is thrilled and said, “Both training in the water and on land are pretty tough, especially when it comes to physical fitness training. In order to compete in the Paralympic Games, I train extra hard and even run on my own as extra training. Hopefully, I can get fruitful results at the Games.” When asked, which event does she have the most confidence in? She answered, “My goal is to beat my personal best record in 100M Backstroke, of course, if I can get a medal, that will be awesome.”
