表揚香港運動員於過去一年在運動方面付出的努力及於比賽中獲得傑出成績，中國香港體育協會暨奧林匹克委員會於2018年3月27日舉行「Samsung 2017年度香港傑出運動員選舉」頒獎典禮。本會乒乓球運動員吳玫薈及梁仲仁分別榮膺「香港傑出運動員」及「香港傑出青少年運動員」。
吳玫薈2017年於「PTT世界團體錦標賽」、「亞洲錦標賽」、「INAS世界錦賽」及「亞殘青」中橫掃多個獎項，當中她於「INAS世界錦賽」中更個人取得7面項目獎牌，成績驕人。玫薈現時為女子單打級別11的亞洲首席球手，暫列世界排名第五。
現年18歲的梁仲仁自小已展現乒乓球的天份，潛質優厚，自2013年起參與多項國際賽事，累積豐富實戰經驗，球技和比賽成績一直穩步上揚。2017年先於「2017 第四屆台中殘疾人乒乓球公開賽」中擊敗多個亞洲好手，取得一面銅牌；其後於「2017 INAS世界乒乓球錦標賽」大型賽事中更擊敗芸芸歐洲及亞洲好手，取得個人首面青少年男子單打項目冠軍，成績驕人。
兩位運動員在體壇取得的卓越成績，不但彰顯他們的運動潛能獲得社會認同，其努力堅持，永不言敗的精神更是令人敬佩，值得其他運動員學習。

Organized by the Sports Federation and Olympic Committee of Hong Kong, China, the prize presentation ceremony of the “Samsung 2017 Hong Kong Sports Stars Awards” was held on 27 March 2018 to pay tribute to the Hong Kong athletes for their distinguished performances in the past year. Our table tennis players NG Mui Wui and LEUNG Chung Yan were awarded the “Hong Kong Sports Stars Award” and “Hong Kong Junior Sports Stars Award” respectively.
In 2017, NG Mui Wui attained dazzling results from "PTT World Team Championships", "Asian Championships", "INAS World Table Tennis Championships" and "Asian Youth Para Games". Among the above, she even obtained a total of 7 medals in "INAS World Table Tennis Championships", which was an extraordinary performance. She is now the top player in Asia and ranked 5th in Women’s Singles Class 11 worldwide.
The 18-year-old LEUNG Chung Yan is also a young table tennis player full of possibilities. Since 2013, Chung Yan has already taken part in a series of international competitions with skills and competition results improving steadily in these years. In 2017, he achieved a bronze medal in the "2017 4th Taichung Paralympics Table Tennis Open" by defeating several Asian players with fair potentials. And his effort paid off in "2017 INAS World Table Tennis Championships", which he won his first gold medal in Junior boy's singles, known as a huge title.
The accomplishments and social recognitions earned by the two promising athletes not only demonstrate their sports talents, their perseverance in striving for excellence also serve as excellent role models for other athletes.
